Through snapshots, video footage, and the experiences of a guest artist from California, take a trip to Bangalore, India. Learn how dance, an original communicator and ancient art form, is surviving in modern times in India and the rest of the world. You're invited to learn about life in a Nrityagram Dance Village and a Katak Gurukul through lecture and demonstrations. Participate in recreating basic movements from the Indian dance cultures, revealing both their uniqueness and similarities to dance from other places. There will be savories to taste to enhance the journey.

All levels of dance experience welcome. No dance experience necessary. All ages welcome.

Alicia Morena-di Palma is a dance ethnologist, author-illustrator, choreographer, performer and teacher. She has toured internationally and currently teaches in the Monterey Peninsula College Dance Department. She founded the Aditi Foundation in 1999, a cultural and charitable non-profit dedicated to preserving and presenting classical and ethnic dance forms.
